Data center

Infrastructure Provider

The design of the Cirrus SAP Cloud Computing solution was explicitly outlined to meet the requirements of several infrastructure providers. As a result, these providers are interchangeable.

Cirrus Services acts itself as a provider. The communications- and server-infrastructure is located in an independent data centre run by a company based in Switzerland. This configuration enables us to provide you with a competitive and highly professional server-housing service. This data centre guarantees optimal conditions for an easy “on-demand” operating of your data with a high availability level.

With a backup data centre situated in a separated fire area, it satisfies all the standard security requirements. It is also equipped with its own diesel generator to ensure a long period of autonomous running in case of failure of the electricity grid. Major companies, as well as governmental offices, already trust the security standards of this data centre.

The data centre offers the following:

  • Data centre in a building constructed in 2003
  • Access system with monitored security door
  • Backup data centre in a separated fire area
  • Global air-conditioning (temperature, humidity, etc.)
  • Redundant energy supply through independent generator
  • Fire protection system connected to the alarm centre and the professional fire brigade of the city.

The data center is certified through our SAP Hosting Partnership.

Storage types

We have three types of storage with different characteristics. You can choose between two storage types for data storage while the storage for backup is set by default.

  • With Storage Area Network (SAN) we offer a high performance platform storage in our architecture. This allows you to attach your platform data storage devices to servers so the devices appear as locally attached to the operating system. Your SAN storage has its own network of storage devices that are generally not accessible through the regular network by others. SAN Storage is intended for platforms (SAP systems) operated by different users at the same time.
  • With Network-attached Storage (NAS) we offer a medium to high performance storage for your platform. The NAS storage is a file-based remote storage access to a private network.  NAS storage is intended for platforms (SAP systems) operated by a single user or a small group of users at the same time
    • We employ a distributed file system (DFS) or network file system as backup-storage in our Solution. All customer generated platform backups are saved on this storage. The client nodes do not have direct access to the underlying storage but interact over the network. This makes it possible to restrict access to the file system depending on access lists.
